Diana Gleave
Artist
I discovered my artist interests and abilities in my mid-forties. Over the years since then, I have experimented with charcoal, pastel and oil paint. As a member of the San Diego Art Department, I became fascinated with a class doing silk painting. Reluctant to join at first, eventually my curiosity got the best of me and I joined the class.
I have now been doing silk painting for almost eight years. I am constantly challenged by the many techniques that can be used. One of my favorites is called Shibori, a traditional Japanese silk painting technique. Batik, a traditional Javanese silk dying process which uses layers of hot wax, is another favorite of mine.
