Kaki Steward

Sculptural silk artist

I started dabbling in silk painting 26 years ago after retiring as a special education teacher. As the saying goes, I fell in love with this art form the second my brush hit the silk.

I'm continually inspired by the phenomenal colors of nature, from a sunset's neverending varieties of reds to an ocean's endless blues.

Sculptural art is a challenge that never ceases to excite and baffle me. Creating a freestanding silk bowl or figure requires constant thinking and an acceptance of potential failure.
